🏠   The   theme of the   ancient Sri Lankan rural life was woven across four pillars - stupa, tank, temple, village. It brought in the tranquility, peace, harmony and co-existence to the rural communities.  The temple and stupa provided the inhabitants with a spiritual sanctuary whereas the tank was a form of lifeline for those who were engaged in agricultural activities.  Although the theme has evolved during the passage of time, the basic structure remains the same for  our visitors to see, if they take a stroll across the villages.
